/bin/sh^M: bad interpreter: No such file or directory. apps11i Instalation

I am having issues while installing Oracle Apps 11i on VMware 7.0.1 build-227600 having RHL 5 installed.

Please have a look at the below scenario. (Single node Installation)

    1) I copied the apps11i stage directory from my local machine -> VMware file system
    using FileZille(ftp client)
    2) I created a user named oracle and a group named dba. I assigned the dba group to
    oracle's primary group.
    3) I did su - oracle and cd to /u07/stage11i/startCD/Disk1/rapidwiz ( here is my
    apps11i staged)
    4) I did [oracle@localhost rapidwiz]$ . ./rapidwiz ( Here I am in oracle user)

and it throws me the following thing

Rapid Install Wizard is validating your file system......
    dirname: invalid option -- b
Try `dirname --help' for more information.
Rapid Install Wizard will now launch the Java Interface.....

-bash: /u07/stage11i/startCD/Disk1/rapidwiz//bin/runWizard.sh: /bin/sh^M: bad interpreter: No such file or directory

    [1]+ Exit 126 $CMDDIR/bin/runWizard.sh $CMDDIR FALSE $cmd_line_args

[root@localhost rapidwiz]# ( If you notice here, It has thrown me out even from the oracle user)

Can you suggest what's the issue !!!!

    Puneet ,

    Please see , You have executed : 4) I did [oracle@localhost rapidwiz]$ . ./rapidwiz ( Here I am in oracle user)

    It should be : [oracle@localhost rapidwiz]$ ./rapidwiz

Please revert back after trying this.

    Thanks

I tried the same as well but didn't worked for me. It throws the same error. This is resolved by doing the below.

    1) vi rapidwiz (where rapidwiz resides. in my case it's in /u07/stage11i/startCD/Disk1/rapidwiz/)
    2) :set fileformat=unix ( As I copied the dump from my local drive to VMware file system. So there is a strong possibility that it's keeping the windows system fileformat)
    3) :wq
    4) ./rapidviz ( and it worked for me. I am not 100% sure about this fact but it worked for me)

Please share your views on this.

    Thanks !

/u07/stage11i/startCD/Disk1/rapidwiz//bin/runWizard.sh is in a DOS format, and the file contains ^M line returns.

    work around:-
Run the 'dos2unix' utility on the script file to remove the ^M line returns and format the file for UNIX.
    e.g. #dos2unix runWizard.sh
dos2unix: converting file runWizard.sh to UNIX format ...

try this, hope it will work

    Hi Nemat,

I tried your thing prior to what I explained above but unfortunately didn't worked for me, I am not sure may be some OS versioning concerns or anything else. eventually set fileformat=unix worked just fine. Thanks for shairing you opinion.

    Cheers !
