    This error can occur on 64 bit OS,
    make the following changes as root (for Linux) :
    ========================================

    [root@dbaquest bin]# pwd
    /usr/bin

    [root@dbaquest bin]# mv gcc gcc.orig
    "gcc" [New] 4L, 45C written

    [root@dbaquest bin]# vi gcc

    and add 2 lines as follows :
    ======================
    !#/bin/bash
    exec /usr/bin/gcc.orig -m32 $@

    [root@dbaquest bin]#

    [root@dbaquest ~]# cd /usr/bin
    [root@dbaquest bin]# chmod 755 gcc
    [root@dbaquest bin]#

    The relink then works :
    ======================
    3 `cat /u03/oracle/prodora/8.0.6/lib/sysliblist` -ldl -lpthread -lm -L/usr/lib -lm -L/usr/X11R6/lib -lXm -L/usr/X11R6/lib/ -L/usr/X11R6/lib/ -lXt -lX11 -lm -lix60 -lixd60 -lX11 -lnlsrtl3 -lXp -lXext
    /usr/bin/gcc: line 1: !#/bin/bash: No such file or directory
    echo mcs /u03/oracle/prodappl/fnd/11.5.0/bin/f60webmx.new
    mcs /u03/oracle/prodappl/fnd/11.5.0/bin/f60webmx.new
    rm -f /u03/oracle/prodappl/fnd/11.5.0/bin/f60webmx.old*
    if test -f /u03/oracle/prodappl/fnd/11.5.0/bin/f60webmx; then \
    mv /u03/oracle/prodappl/fnd/11.5.0/bin/f60webmx /u03/oracle/prodappl/fnd/11.5.0/bin/f60webmx.old$$; \
    fi; \
    mv /u03/oracle/prodappl/fnd/11.5.0/bin/f60webmx.new /u03/oracle/prodappl/fnd/11.5.0/bin/f60webmx

    exec /usr/bin/gcc.orig -m32 $@

    Will the modification will work for both the 32bit and 64 bit relinking ? Because here we are instructing the compiler to compile 32bit code.

    This modification would not be required in case of 32 bit OS because it will anyway use the 32 bit 'so' files ;
    Hence specific to 64 bit.

    Actually I had not asked the question for 32bit OS, I am asking for 64 BIT platform, Suppose I had Apps 11i 64 bit installed on 64bit OS. Then relinking with this method will work or not?

    Thanks and regards

    These changes are only required when we use 32 bit compiler in 64 bit OS.
    For 64 bit on 64 bit , you will have to use 64 bit gcc.

    The solution to the problem so that you will not have to keep making compiler changes is given in this thread :
