Rectify Worker Hanging / Patch Hang scenario

When patches are applying to application, we may encounter worker hang scenarios.
In this case , the worker shows running or Restarted status, but the process is not really running.

    To rectify this situation ,

To do so, required these steps to achieve
    1. Start AD controller
    2. Review worker status
    3. Take the appropriate action for each hanging worker

    A. If the worker shows failed, restart the failed job. When prompted, enter the number of the worker that failed.

    B. If the worker shows Running or Restarted status, but the process is not really running, select the following options :
Option 4: Tell Manager that a worker has failed its job. When prompted, enter the number of the hanging worker
Option 6: Restart a worker on the current machine. When prompted, enter the number of the worker that failed

Note : Do not tell the manager to start a worker that has shutdown if the worker process is running. Doing so will create duplicate worker processes with the same worker ID and will cause incorrect results

Option 6: Restart a worker on the current machine. When prompted, enter the number of the worker that failed options :

To check if a process is actually running :

    - Refer to your experience of applying the same patch on the earlier (test ) instance.
    - Check the correesponding session of the database side ..see what it is doing ..is it progressing - check the session waits..
    - Check the alert log , there could be halt on account of
    - On the OS side you can use the 'strace' utility

Option 6 - to restart the failed worker would be applicable if the worker shows status 'FAILED'
Is not applicable for a worker hang , where the status will not be failed
